"I think this is a great idea! Oxford has always been dedicated to the idea of collegiate academic community, which is all about giving students the ability to learn from one another across academic disciplines. That's why we live and socialise with students who study different subjects from our own, and it'd be great to be able to see some of the best lectures outside our own field of study too. I'm looking forward to it!"
"I try to go to other interesting lectures not part of my course from time to time. But having a vote system to know which ones are truly brilliant and having regular opportunities to watch them is a great idea."
"This place is full of inspirational people, people who are the best in their field and who have a true passion for what they do. Tutorials and lectures are able to illustrate just that. I find that studying for my degree is sometimes too narrow, I get the best teaching but it's just in one subject area. I'd like to expand my horizons and be able to explore other fields, perhaps totally unrelated to my degree. Maybe this way I can be convinced to do a second degree, who knows? "
"Sounds like a really great way in which to allow students to benefit the most from the uni where they're studying."
"It sounds like a fab idea - a great opportunity for everyone!"
"Universities are a hive of activity and there is always the feeling that you won't get to be a part of it all before you leave. It would be great to make the great bits more accessible so we don't miss the opportunity!"
"Whilst lectures are open to students from other courses, I don't think that they are genuinely accessible at the moment. For example, you often need a strong background in a subject to understand them. Putting some structure around sharing lectures is a fantastic idea."
"Great idea! Good luck :-)
"Oxford is a truly inspirational place to study with many tutors and lecturers whose own passion for their subjects brings out the best in those they teach. I think every Oxford student has an affirmative answer to the question: "Can you name a tutor/lecturer who whose teaching has personally inspired you?". I certainly can.
I think Fruni is an excellent way for the University to celebrate these teachers and employ their talents to have a potentially transformational impact upon more people."
