Biography

Very informed, entertaining lectures in a subject of much topical debate at the moment (drug abuse). Very good at dishing out 'actual facts' in a subject overwhelmed with wildly inaccurate media speculation.
Prof Henderson says:
My expertise is in how drugs work on the brain, with special emphasis on drugs of abuse and 'recreational drugs'.
A vast array of drugs are used for recreational purposes some of which are legal in the UK and many that are illegal. The purpose of my lecture/talk would be to discuss the nature of drug use and potential harms and to outline the different acute and chronic effects drugs exert on brain function and how they relate to the acute experience of taking the drug as well as to the long term adaptive processes that underlie addiction.
