Amazing personality ! He is literally a L-E-G-E-N-D among students, first of all because he is a lovely personality and secondly because of his lectures.
His lectures are really entertaining, with really cool jokes which make students feel more comfortable and enjoy learning but most importantly he manages to explain complex ideas/theories/ techniques with astonishing clarity and creativity.
Finally the student community has a huge respect for Dr. Avison because he hasn't forgotten how it is to be a student; a feature that maybe is missing in other lecturers! Would recommend to present his lecture on '' How to read scientific literature'' or whatever he wants !!
