Lucy is a fantastic lecturer and very enthusiastic about her subject. She is behind many current space projects often seen in tabloids, so we believe she would give a really fascinating talk. There are many areas of cutting edge research going on a Bristol in the space industry that she could discuss.
Dr Berthoud has worked for 25 years in Spacecraft research and industry. She has a Master's in Mechanical Engineering (with Distinction) from University of Bristol, a PhD in Space Physics at Sup'Aero/ONERA-CERT (French National Research Organisation) in Toulouse, and undertook post-doctoral fellowships at the European Space Agency and NASA Johnson Space Centre before joining BAe Space Systems (now EADS Astrium). She worked first in Mechanical Systems and then in the Mission Systems department specialising in interplanetary spacecraft design. In 2009 Dr Berthoud started teaching at the University of Bristol and currently consults for the Space Industry.
